Citizens for Environmental Stewardship, Inc. (CES) was formed in Sept. 2012 by a group of citizens residing in the towns of Bridge Creek, Lincoln, Otter Creek, Drammen, Cleveland, and the cities of Augusta and Eau Claire. Their concerns regarding the onslaught of the frac sand mining industry in their towns and western Wisconsin were the basis for the formation of the group.
While frac sand mining issues are still a current priority, it has become our overall mission to conserve and protect our natural resources.
Our vision is to be an educational group who is willing to research, inform and provide assistance to the public wherever we can in order to promote good stewardship of our environment. We hope to lead by example and become involved in volunteer work promoting stewardship in our communities.
Some of us choose to live in the Chippewa Valley because of the beauty of the rolling hills and bluffs, trout streams, abundant wildlife and forests, fresh country air, and a simple life in rural America. Some of us choose to live here because our families have done so for generations, and it is a good place to live and raise a family. Some of us are farmers, and farming is what we do with a passion. Some of us have or have had careers in education, social work, law enforcement, law, farming, business, nursing, and forestry. But all of us are passionate about the health of the earth's environment and its inhabitants, and leaving a legacy for our children and generations to come - a legacy that says in order to enjoy, maintain, improve and conserve the natural resources of this planet one must become involved. That involvement will require research, sacrifice, communications and action.
There are huge environmental issues to be addressed, and we hope that our effort will be part of the solution to these issues.
Anyone who shares in our vision and is interested in becoming a member of our group, is welcome to contact us.

Letter from the Board of Directors
November, 2014
Citizens For Environmental Stewardship, Inc. was formed in 2012 by citizens living in the Augusta and Fall Creek area who initially met to share our concerns regarding the influx of silica sand mining into our communities. This past year was filled with the efforts of the members organizing and volunteering to complete these actions:
●Promoting “collective wisdom” by the searching for and sharing of new environmental related information with members.
● Assist in scientific research.
● Educate others on the environmental, social and economic impacts of industrial sand mining in local communities.
● Become informed about and help others become aware of Community Rights movements.
● Continued involvement at all levels of government (Township, County and State) through attendance at meetings and speaking to elected officials on issues of importance relative to the health, safety and general welfare of residents living near or around industrial sand mining operations.
Our corporation is run entirely by a group of volunteers whose passion, commitment, and sacrifice is responsible for the accomplishments during this past year.
We have seen some growth in our volunteer ranks in the past year. To those that have joined us in our efforts, we are grateful for your time, energy and talents. We continue to reach out to find new volunteers who wish to learn what they can do to spread our message throughout our local area and to a larger audience in Wisconsin.
As this year comes to a close, we wish to thank each and everyone of you for all that you have done.
